Plucking the Violin Strings
- Set bow down or hold in a fist with your hand.
- Place your thumb on the fingerboard
- Gently pull the string with your pointer finger
Plucking the Violin is a great way to practice your left-hand fingers by playing on the string without the bow. This can help improve your playing faster as you are able to learn one part of playing at a time.
To pluck the violin you can put the bow down or hold it in your hand in a fist. (rather than holding the bow like you would if you were playing it) Place your thumb on the fingerboard and gently pull the string until it makes a sound. Be careful to not over pull the string or you will make your violin go out of tune or break a string. If you pluck too light then no one will be able to hear you.
